Text Box: Orthopaedic Political Action Committee (OPAC)

The Orthopaedic Political Action Committee (OPAC) is the political action arm of the California Orthopaedic Association. Established at the time COA was formed in 1975, OPAC solicits voluntary annual contributions from orthopaedic surgeons in California. The funds collected are used to support state candidates seeking legislative or administrative offices.

PURPOSE AND GOALS

OPAC's purpose and goals are as follows:

to support state candidates for public office who understand medical issues and support COA's legislative positions;
to encourage orthopaedic surgeons and their spouses to individually participate in local fundraising and campaign efforts;
to encourage orthopaedic surgeons and their spouses to understand the nature of the legislative and political process, along with a candidate's position on important medical issues; and to
to educate orthopaedic surgeons and their spouses on legislative and regulatory activity in Sacramento.

KEY CONTACT PROGRAM

Your active participation is key to the success of COA’s Key Contact Program.

COA's Key Contact Programs is a network of local politically active orthopaedic surgeons and their spouses who have built relationships of trust and confidence with their legislators or who are willing to get to know their legislators and communicate with them on key health care issues. At critical times, COA will request that the Key Contacts communicate with their legislators regarding specific issues.

If you know your state and/or federal legislator or would be willing to get to know them, click on COA's e-mail address to send us a message letting us know of your interest.
